Auntie Vi’s Apple Pie

auntie vi's apple pie

I have made all different kinds of apple pie my entire life. This recipe is by far, THE BEST OF THE BEST. It is so good and the crumble on top is so buttery and sweet. I don’t really like apple pie actually, but I absolutely love this one. I have made this so many times for family parties and everyone fights over the last piece. It is so easy to bake. It tastes even better (as if that’s even possible) with vanilla ice cream. This recipe is from the Crumbs Bake Shop. I highly recommend it for fall baking!

Ingredients:

Crust:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup butter (at room temperature)

Filling:

  • 5 Granny Smith apples
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Crumb Topping

  • 1/2 cup butter (at room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Recipe:

  1. Mix together the crust ingredients, leaving egg yolk till last and press into a pan (approximately 9 inch diameter).
  2. Peel, core, and slice apples.
  3. Mix sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Place apples in crust and pour sugar mixture over it.
  5. Mix topping ingredients and crumble over the apples. Try to cover all of the apple.
  6. Bake at 325F for 1 hour 15 minutes.
  7. Enjoy!
